Books by Ann Ledgerwood
Ann’s adventure in creative writing began in December 2016 as she thought about her Granddaughter Riley’s upcoming thirteenth birthday coming up in March 2017. Ann decided to give Riley a gift that would last. “Oatmeal & Lavender” was born. In this book, readers meet Annie Beth, a young girl in foster care, who is lonely and longs for a friend. Through a mysterious bird, she meets Riley, a popular girl who has many friends. In the second book “Coral Musick,” best friends Annie Beth and Riley share childhood adventures (some with Annie Beth’s pet goat) and the many wonderful experiences of the change of season from summer to fall to winter. Set in the Appalachian Mountains in Russell County, Virginia in 1969, these stories gently discuss foster care, adoption, kindness, friendship and acceptance of others. In “Oatmeal from the Other Side,” readers view the first two stories from the perspective of the birds that live on the Other Side. The Other Side is a magical place where peace, love, kindness, and friendship abound. Under the supervision of the Great White Owl, Oatmeal and Lavender, along with the sister birds Jade, Mint, and Teal, travel back and forth, between the Front Side and the Other Side on missions to help people.
COMING IN 2021--Ann's fourth book "Strawberry Heaven" which is a middle reader novel which continues the friendship and adventures of Annie Beth and Riley. In the summer of 1970, Annie Beth's aunt and three cousins come to stay with the Musick family in Finney, VA. As the days pass, it becomes clear that there are some secrets held by Annie Beth's extended family.
Please read them in order to keep the storyline in sequence:
